Feature
Google Review SMS Software
Google review SMS software sends a short text message to a recent customer with a one-tap link to your Google review page. Used correctly, with proper consent at signup, a clear identifying message, and immediate STOP/opt-out handling, it is the highest-conversion channel for getting more real Google reviews from real customers.
What is Google review SMS software?
It's a system that takes the customer's mobile number (collected with consent at the point of service) and sends a single SMS asking for a review. The message contains a short link that goes directly to your Google review page so the customer can submit a review without searching for your business on Google.
Good SMS review software handles: consent capture, message scheduling, dedicated business numbers, short-link click tracking, delivery status, and STOP/opt-out handling.
Why SMS follow-up works better than passive QR signs alone
QR signs at the point of checkout only convert customers who, in the moment, both notice the sign and are willing to stop and write a review. That's a small fraction. SMS follow-up catches the rest: the customer opts in at the sign, then gets a friendly text a few hours later when they're on the couch, not standing at the register.

Consent and opt-out basics
- Express opt-in. The customer must affirmatively agree to receive the SMS, typically a labeled checkbox next to the phone field at the QR sign URL.
- Identifying message. The SMS must identify the business by name.
- Opt-out language. "Reply STOP to opt out" in the first message.
- Honor STOP immediately and durably. Recipients texting STOP / STOPALL / UNSUBSCRIBE / CANCEL / END / QUIT must be excluded from all future sends, not just the next one.
- Quiet hours. Do not send before 8am or after 9pm local time.
- No incentives. Do not offer discounts or freebies in exchange for a review.
Dedicated number vs shared sender
A dedicated 10-digit long code per business is better than a shared shortcode for: brand recognition, reply handling, STOP attribution, and deliverability under A2P 10DLC rules. Shared shortcodes are cheaper but mix many senders' traffic and complicate compliance. RateInvite uses a dedicated Twilio number per business.
Short links and click tracking
A direct Google review URL is long. SMS senders use a per-recipient short token (e.g. `rateinvite.com/review/AB12`) that redirects straight to Google. The short link lets the system count clicks without breaking the user experience.
When to send the SMS
- Restaurants: 1–4 hours after the meal.
- Retail: same day, within a few hours of checkout.
- Salons / barbershops: later same day or the next morning.
- Auto shops: 24 hours after pickup, when the customer has driven the car.
- Dentists / med spas: same day after the appointment.
- Contractors / HVAC / plumbers: 24–48 hours after job completion.
Avoid quiet hours (before 8am, after 9pm local time).
What not to do
- Don't text customers who didn't opt in.
- Don't offer discounts or freebies in exchange for a review.
- Don't gate the review: every customer should get the same ask, not just the ones who self-rate themselves 5 stars first.
- Don't send a second SMS to someone who replied STOP.
- Don't text from a personal number that doesn't identify the business.
How RateInvite handles SMS review requests
- Customers opt in at the public review URL behind the printed QR sign, with a labeled consent checkbox.
- Consent context, timestamp, IP hash, source URL, is stored on the review request record.
- SMS goes out from a dedicated Twilio number per business.
- Each message includes the business name and "Reply STOP to opt out".
- STOP / STOPALL / UNSUBSCRIBE / CANCEL / END / QUIT replies are captured, hashed, and durably blocked from all future sends.
- Delivery status (sent / delivered / failed / undelivered) is recorded per message via Twilio's status callback.
- Per-IP + per-phone 24-hour rate locks prevent abuse via repeated submissions.
